Rail Services Block Oyster Use

...so claim London TravelWatch here.

This is a major setback for Boris Johnson, who earlier this year had stated that the cards would be available for use on most suburban rail services by the end of 2009. TravelWatch now gives the implementation date as a wide open "2010".

The integration of Oyster across the entire network would not just make commuters' lives easier, but show that the Mayor and TfL were responding to the needs of the significant number who commute into London from the suburbs on a daily basis.

In a modern city there is simply no excuse for commuters to walk past covered up Oyster readers (which TfL has been busily installing for the past year) whilst being forced to use more expensive paper tickets.
