MyFinances reports on revealing recent polling:
Some 45 per cent of Londoners cite high travel costs – such as parking, public transport and the congestion charge - as the most discouraging expense of living in London.
This sentiment re-enforces our article of a few days ago: London's cabs are so highly rated because of the comparison between them and the public transport on offer. People object to paying money to travel on outdated and creaky public transport.
If public transport was clean, efficient and reliable then the gripes about cost would diminish substantially. This is the challenge faced by the London Mayor - to better the transport experience whilst maintaining current costs. It is up to Londoners to decide who the best candidate to deliver this change may be.
