A slow day for London news so far, so instead of a longer post LondonUnlocked is featuring two of the most reported stories by the London media today.
Firstly, whilst visiting the village of Sipson, Ken Livingstone re-iterated his opposition to a third runway at Heathrow, which would have led to the bulldozing of the village. Reports the Rye & Battle Observer:
Mr Livingstone said: "It is vital that all airport expansion in London and the South East, including Heathrow, is halted now as it is completely contrary to the growing evidence on the role of aviation in contributing towards catastrophic climate change... the expansion of Heathrow will take much needed green space and mean the complete destruction of Sipson village, home to over 1,000 people.
Secondly, InHabitat carries a good profile of the cycling scheme which Mr Livingstone intends to introduce in London, comparing it to the Parisian Velib scheme. Certainly worth reading.
