Readers will be delighted to know that the threat by the RMT and TSSA unions to strike over the Bank Holiday weekend is over. For now. Train operating companies have spent much of today pre-cancelling services ahead of the strike, which was due to run for 24 hours from 17:00 on Monday.
During dispute resolutions at Acas, a revised offer was made to the unions. First TSSA went away to think about it, and then the RMT opted to join them. The threat hasn't yet gone away, but it is at least postponed until after the bank holiday.
We wait to see what the Unions' management committees make of the offer but, for now, enjoy your bank holiday!
