"A fantastic Budget for London." Or so said the Mayor after several initiatives were announced in it which will benefit the capital. But many of those initiatives aren't transport related. Looking at the the Budget documents does offer a couple of nuggets of good news on the transport front though, including:
- £34m of Government funding plus £16m from TfL to be spent on the Croxley Rail link to extend the Metropolitan Line to meet the West Coast Mainline at Watford Junction
- upgrades to the First Great Western rail line that links London with Bristol, Paignton and Penzance
It would have been good to see announcements trailed on the Airports Commission or CrossRail 2, but these announcements aren't small change either.
