Bloomberg reports that Heathrow's plans for a third runway have the support of the Government. This is a badly needed prop to maintain London as a key transport hub, and increase access and investment in our city:
Heathrow, owned by Grupo Ferrovial SA's BAA Ltd. unit, is operating at 99 percent of its government-permitted flight capacity and handling 67 million passengers a year in buildings designed for 41 million. Capacity constraints mean the airport is one of Europe's 10 worst for delays, according to the report.
Rightly the Government will enforce strict noise and environmental guidelines on the BAA group's building plans.
